Paris Saint-Germain Wins Its First Champions League 5–0
The biggest winning margin in a European Cup final gave PSG the trophy it had chased for decades.
On 31 May 2025, Paris Saint-Germain faced Inter Milan at the Allianz Arena in Munich for the final of the 2024–25 UEFA Champions League. The contest marked the seventieth season of Europe's top club tournament and represented a major milestone for both sides. Paris Saint-Germain was appearing in its second European Cup decider, having fallen to Bayern Munich in 2020. Inter Milan, an experienced continental contender contesting its seventh final in the competition, had reached this stage for the second time in three years after losing to Manchester City in 2023. Notably, the fixture was the first Champions League final since 2004 that did not feature a team from England, Spain, or Germany.
The German city of Munich held a unique historical resonance for the tournament. The Allianz Arena had previously staged the final in 2012, while the city's Olympiastadion had hosted the matches in 1979, 1993, and 1997. Each of those four prior Munich finals had crowned a first-time champion, including Marseille in 1993, which stood as the only French club ever to win the title. Munich had originally been selected to stage the 2022 and later the 2023 final, but adjustments following pandemic-related shifts in Istanbul pushed the German venue's turn to 2025.
